Predecessor chapel became a parish hall

A local folklore account records that the older chapel on the site, its windows fallen in and its cross blown down in a storm, was being rebuilt as a C.Y.M.S. hall rather than demolished when a newer church had already been built nearby.

    Present church built St Mochta's National School's history page states that the present Church of St Mochta's in Porterstown was built in 1890.
  • 1930
    Older chapel converted to hall A folklore account collected for the Schools' Collection describes the earlier chapel on the site, built by Luke White, being converted into a C.Y.M.S. hall as it fell into disrepair, by which time a newer church already existed.
  • 1986
    Parish reconstituted The Archdiocese of Dublin records the parish of Porterstown-Clonsilla as constituted in 1986 from Castleknock.

  • Luke White Built the earlier chapel on the church site — A folklore account collected in the 1930s for the Schools' Collection identifies Luke White as the builder of an earlier chapel on the site now occupied by St Mochta's Church.
