Parish established The parish of St John the Evangelist was created in December 1971 to serve Kilbarrack and Foxfield, carved out of the parish of Sts Peter and Paul, Baldoyle.

Temporary church opened A temporary church of St John the Evangelist opened on Greendale Road while the parish awaited a permanent building.

Church dedicated The present church was officially opened and dedicated by Archbishop Dermot Ryan on 31 October 1982.
