Fan-shaped plan with atrium buffer

The church uses an oval atrium as an acoustic and social buffer between the worship space and the surrounding car park and road, an arrangement noted in accounts of Dublin's modern church architecture.

    Thatched chapel built in Howth A thatched chapel serving the wider Howth area, of which Sutton then formed part, was built on Howth's Main Street in 1816.
  • 1912
    Chapel-of-Ease established in Sutton A Chapel-of-Ease, locally called the Tin Church, was established in Sutton in 1912 and enlarged in 1927.
  • 1973
    Present St Fintan's Church built The current church was built in 1973 to a design by Andy Devane of Robinson, Keefe and Devane, replacing the earlier Chapel-of-Ease.
