Temporary tin church dedicated A temporary corrugated-iron church, acquired from Cabra West and blessed by Archbishop McQuaid, was dedicated in July 1955 to serve the Artane area.

1967
Foundation stone laid Archbishop John Charles McQuaid laid the foundation stone of the permanent church in 1967.

1968
Official opening of the church The permanent church opened on 27 October 1968, built at a cost of £240,000. The Archdiocese records the parish of Artane as constituted from Coolock in the same year.

- Christopher Campbell (1908-1972) Stained glass artist — The NIAH appraisal attributes the multi-coloured stained glass of the interior to Christopher Campbell.
- John Charles McQuaid (1895-1973) Archbishop of Dublin — Blessed the temporary church in 1955 and laid the foundation stone of the permanent church in 1967, according to the parish history.
