One of Dublin's largest churches, reduced to a fraction of its size

The Irish Times reported that the planned replacement church, at roughly 300 to 350 seats, is about one tenth the capacity of the demolished 1968 building, which could seat close to 3,500.

Parish constituted The parish of Finglas West was constituted from St Canice's parish, Finglas.
1968
Church completed The Church of the Annunciation was completed to a design by architect David Keane, with a 45 metre spire and seating for around 3,500 people.
2018
Final Mass celebrated Archbishop Diarmuid Martin celebrated the final Mass in the church on 7 October 2018 before its closure.
2020
Demolition approved Dublin City Council approved the planning application for demolition of the church in February 2020, following a planning application filed in May 2019; a conservation officer had argued unsuccessfully for adaptive reuse instead.
